A Busy Wedding Season and Other News

Posted on July 29, 2010

I haven't posted anything in a while. I've been super busy this wedding season, and just have not had the time! However, I do have a teaser shot I wanted to upload, so here it is! In other news, my website will be changing! I am going to be moving away from the blog format here, and will be replacing it with a fully mobile-compatible website. Please excuse my dust as I renovate!

An Impromptu Wedding Shoot

Posted on May 10, 2010

As many of you may know, I was in Puerto Rico for a commercial shoot (and a much appreciated vacation) last week. It was a fantastic trip, and I think that the shoot was an amazing success, even if I am still processing most of it.

On the last day of my trip, I was walking along the beach and happened across a couple who were just married that morning. They were taking individual photos of each other, taking turns with their camera. I couldn't in good conscience let this go on, so I approached and offered to take a few photos of them with their camera.

I ended up taking many photos of them with their camera, and a few good ones with my own camera. I usually do not leave home without at least one good camera... lol.

I hope they enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them, and I cannot wait to hear from the couple!

There seem to be a TON of weddings at this location, as the first day I was there I came across another wedding as well. These folks had a proper photographer, videographer, and such, so I kept my distance. It didn't keep me from taking a quick snap with my point and shoot however! Look at this beautiful location!

It hit me this morning. The realization that in under a week, my wife and I would be sitting on a tropical beach, editing photos and enjoying some much needed sunshine. I am sure to get some amazing photos this time around.

We went there for the first time last year, and it was absolutely magical. Swimming in warm crystal blue waters reminded me of something from a movie. It was not as humid as one would have thought, but then, we take regular trips to the Southern U.S. so I am a bit used to humidity. The mix of spanish/latin and english influences merging in every aspect of life there is both exciting and fascinating as well.

I'll be doing some work there as well, as I have been contracted by a local agency to do some photography. I am really excited about that!

We will be going on a few boating trips, and going snorkling. We are also planning on visiting the rain forest, as well as sampling plenty of local foods.

To give you readers an idea of what we are looking forward to, I have attached a couple photos!

Revisiting the past is a good thing...

Posted on March 25, 2010

As a photographer, every now and again, it is a good thing to go back and view past work.  This week I was looking at some old images I took.  Specifically I was looking at one image I took which was almost identical to one taken by the primary photographer on my very first wedding ever. It always struck me how great his photographs were in comparison to mine, and I have aspired to be as great as he is, on a daily basis.

Looking at the photo I had taken years ago, I like the shot.  its beautiful in its own right.  It has color and it pops. But when compared to the same photo taken by the other photographer, it just comes up lacking...  I figured I would play with it and see what I could do, and this is the result:

I'll have to go through more of my older images now, and see what I can do with them.  Look for more updates soon!

Tragedy in my Neighborhood

Posted on December 23, 2009

Last night a home suffered a natural gas explosion and was destroyed. The couple and their young baby managed to somehow get out alive and with apparently minor injuries. They have lost everything. I have taken many photos and some video of what happened last night. If you are an interested party and would like copies, please contact me at 203-981-0799.

Aubrey & Major had a wonderful wedding!

Posted on October 17, 2009

Aubrey & Major were married September 12th, 2009. It was an amazing wedding. They were married on a golf course, and it was so beautiful. I rented a lens for the wedding, the Canon 24mm 1.4L II. I was so impressed with it I didn't want to take it off the camera! I think you will be similarly pleased with the photos I snapped with it. Enjoy! A Mystic Wedding

Posted on October 15, 2009

Not long ago a friend and associate asked me to come with her to shoot a wedding. The ceremony was in Mystic, CT in a beautiful church downtown. After the ceremony we all headed over to Harkness state park for the reception at the mansion. Here are some of the photos I took from that wonderful day! Thanks Charlene for having me along on this wonderful wedding!

The following photos are © CR Photography, taken by me as second shooter.
